You share the frame with the man holding balloons.

Sunglasses perched on your head,

               your hands tightly clutch the streetlamp,

               and, balancing just so,

a small foot hovers daintily above the ground.

Playing peek-a-boo with the camera,

               your smile lights up the photograph

               captured by… whom?

Boyfriend?

Girlfriend?

Lover?

A fellow street traveler entranced by the balloon man?

Another sweet torture made irrelevant by time.

Staring into this reflection of memory,

the carefree happiness in your face

is the only thing I understand.
